Set in present day Connemara, County Galway, on the west coast of Ireland, on a headland which becomes an Island at high tide, The Dreamers of Inishdara is a clever and fiesty comedy which tells the story of Leanah Dubh, a half-human, half-fairy girl who can crack a man's skull at half a mile with a hurling ball. Whilst locked in hostilities with Dick Branigan her landlord's brother (a Dublin Jackeen intent on claiming Inishdara for himself) she is visited by Crow Murphy, a travelling fiddle-player whom she suspects of being a spy for her landlord. The fairy world, fearing the loss of the ancient spirit of enchantment in the land of Ireland following the upsurge of materialism, has decided to intervene in the world of human affairs.
The play is a contemporary, romantic comedy performing at the Jermyn Street Theatre and brings back amongst its cast the theatrical treasure that is Patricia Quinn aka Patricia, Lady Stephens, who is the wife of the late Sir Robert Stephens. She was famously once a Playboy bunny - one of the first of the London Playboy Club for 3 months before going to drama school at The Drama Centre in London.
Her resumé is a vast, assorted feast of notable performances in television, film and theatre. She has starred in some of television's most popular, iconic shows (including Dr Who, Minder, I, Claudius, The Professionals, Bergerac and Tales of the Unexpected) and has proved that she can carry off anything with her unique, witty and versatile style. With her very distinctive voice, an inimitable presence and an effortless scene-stealing ability, there is only one Patricia Quinn.
Her lips are the infamous lips in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) that sing "Science Fiction, Double Feature". It has been exuberantly stated that Patricia Quinn is to the lips what Elle McPhereson is to the body.
Ms Quinn is slated to play The Brooklechaun who is an envoy from the court of Fairy. She is also playing the character of Holy Jo Branigan. Other confirmed cast members so far also include Gemma-Leah Devereux as Leanah Dubh and Peter Dunne as Dick Branigan..
