Patricia remembers Stephen Gately

"I want to say how saddened I am by the demise of Stephen Gately. He was a young man I met in unusual circumstances during the rehearsals for the Rocky Horror Tribute Show. We were all sitting in the stalls of the Royal Court Theatre each waiting to rehearse our songs; many of the people were unknown to me. I noticed a young man sitting alone and when he took to the stage to sing 'Once in a While' (which was cut from the original film), I was utterly overwhelmed by his rendition and personal interpretation of the song. I had heard it many times before but never like that. I was grateful to congratulate him, unaware of who he was. He kindly thanked me and explained he had to rush off to the dentist to have his tooth fixed for the evening performance. He was the most delightful, unassuming and extremely talented young man. I am grateful to have met him and to have shared the stage with him on such a memorable occasion. I would like to offer my sincerest condolences."

Love, Patricia Quinn.

Rocky Horror icon comes to Birmingham *** PLEASE NOTE DATE ALTERATION! ***

Patricia Quinn, the actress who played Magenta in both the original stage show and iconic Rocky Horror Show film, will appear at a charity event in Birmingham on Wednesday 28th October, from 6pm.

St.Pauls Gallery working with the SHOUT festival will present an ‘audience with’ style event where Patricia will talk about her work in both the stage show and movie, accompanied by Rayner Bourton (familiar to all Rocky fans as the stage production's original Frank 'N' Furter). Patricia comments on the event, ‘I’m delighted to be coming to Birmingham to be with you all. Don’t dream it, be it. Let there be lips!’

St.Pauls Gallery will be launching an exclusive limited edition run of prints from the original film poster, called ‘Lips’. The gallery has donated two special prints, both of which will be signed personally by Patricia and be auctioned off on the night to raise money for HIV Charity ABplus.

The free event takes place from 6pm on Wednesday 28th October at St.Pauls Gallery, 94 Northwood Street, Birmingham B3 1TH.

Patricia Quinn to appear in Stephen Frears’ new film!

Oscar-nominated director Stephen Frears’ latest film is Tamara Drewe, based on Posy Simmonds’ comic strip and graphic novel, which is a modern take on Thomas Hardy’s classic novel, Far From The Madding Crowd.

Gemma Arterton will play Tamara, a once a shy, ugly teenager, who causes controversy among the locals when she returns to her parents’ idyllic country home having reinvented herself as a confident and beautiful femme fatale after years spent in the big bad city as a columnist. The film also stars Dominic Cooper (Mamma Mia!), Roger Allam (The Queen), Luke Evans (Clash of The Titans), Bill Camp (Public Enemies) and TV comedienne Tamsin Greig.

Tamara Drewe began as a comic strip in The Guardian, making its first appearance on 17th September 2005.
"I've loved Posy Simmonds' work for a long time," Frears said in a statement. "I've got a tremendous cast and crew. Tamara Drewe is a terrific story."

Patricia is delighted to be asked by Stephen Frears to join the cast of Tamara Drewe and begins filming in November.

"It's the first night revisited and if you weren't there you will be now.  It's hilarious!  A must!  A seventies dream!  If you don't have this - don't build a bookshelf!" ~ Patricia Quinn, London - 24 June 2009

Essential reading for all Rocky Horror fans! Pat would like to bring to your attention this brand new book written by her friend and co-star Rayner Bourton, the original Rocky from the very first production of the Rocky Horror Show at London's Royal Court Theatre.

Rayner Bourton's book

“THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW: As I remember It”

A personal retrospective by the Original ‘Rocky Horror’ Rayner Bourton.  Packed with anecdotes concerning Richard O’Brien, Tim Curry, Patricia Quinn, Little Nell and the rest of the Original London Cast and production team.  It tells of the fun we had rehearsing this ‘little’ show, the excitement of the first night at The Theatre Upstairs and the subsequent ‘hottest show celebrity’ status we enjoyed during that first wonderful ‘Creation of Rocky’ summer of 1973!
